Yichang Marathon promoted to higher level by World Athletics

The Yichang Marathon will be upgraded to a World Athletics Elite Label Road Race in 2025, the Yichang Marathon Organizing Committee announced. The committee received official notification from World Athletics, the international governing body for athletics.
World Athletics Label Road Races are recognized as the "leading road races around the world." These events are evaluated based on criteria including competition quality, organizational excellence, athlete services, safety measures, media coverage, and sustainable development. Only competitions that meet these rigorous standards receive a label, designating them as top-tier marathons globally.

Since its inauguration in 2016, the Yichang Marathon has evolved into a premier sporting event over six editions.
