China Three Gorges Corporation, the world's largest hydropower developer and operator, generated over 100 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in the first quarter of this year, setting a new record.

The amount generated by China's leading clean energy group can meet the electricity needs of about 44 billion people for an entire day.

The Three Gorges Dam, the company’s major hydropower station, generated 14.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, marking a 9.6 percent increase year-on-year.

Six hydropower stations along the Yangtze River, all operated by China Three Gorges Corporation, form the world's largest clean energy corridor.

Four of these -- Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, and Xiangjiaba -- are located on the Jinsha River, the upper section of the Yangtze River. The other two, Three Gorges Dam and Gezhouba, are in the middle section.

The Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest hydroelectric power station, began construction in 1994, with its first generator coming online in July 2003. With 34 turbo-generators, it has a combined power generating capacity of 22.5 million kilowatts.
