International passenger traffic surged significantly, driven by new routes and steady service expansions. This year, the airport improved its global connectivity by launching a route to Singapore and resuming flights to Seoul, while maintaining services to destinations like Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Hong Kong. In the first quarter, 19,000 foreign passengers accounted for 59% of total travelers, making it the top port for foreign visitors in Hubei Province.
The launch of an international cargo terminal marks a milestone in Yichang’s global logistics network.
On March 26, the airport opened its international cargo terminal, launching the first air freight route in western Hubei. This milestone paves the way for an "Air Silk Road" for Yichang products. In 2024, cargo throughput surpassed 10,000 tons for the first time, reflecting a 270.8% year-on-year increase. With an annual capacity of 40,000 tons, the new terminal will attract cross-border e-commerce and high-end manufacturing, boosting regional industry development.
The new duty-free shop at the airport, operated by Zhuhai Duty Free Group, opened on February 26. Covering 226 square meters, it offers over 100 popular domestic and international brands. This shop fills a gap in Yichang's duty-free market, enhances the city's aviation capabilities, and meets the growing demand for premium travel experiences.
