Cargo throughput jumps nearly 14% in Q1

From January to March this year, Yichang's ports handled a total cargo volume of 40.68 million tons, marking a year-on-year increase of 13.96 percent.
In this period, outbound cargo reached 25.14 million tons, up 13.89 percent year-on-year. Container throughput also showed significant growth, with 67,900 twenty-foot equivalent units, up 8.44 percent year-on-year.

Yichang’s six port zones, including Zhijiang, Yidu, Zigui, Xingshan, Changyang and urban Yichang, as well as the Xiaoting Operation Area have all contributed to this growth. Notably, Xiaoting Operation Area (1.39 million tons), Zigui Port (8.95 million tons) and Zhijiang Port (12.35 million tons) all posted year-on-year growth rates exceeding 20 percent.
Building materials led the cargo categories (1,664 tons) accounting for nearly 41 percent of the total cargo, followed by metal ores (651 tons) and non-metallic ores (491 tons).
Noteworthy year-on-year growth was seen in agricultural, forestry, and fishery products (up 197 percent), chemical raw materials and products (up 68.4 percent) and electromechanical products (up 47.9 percent).
