Construction of the Yichang Yangtze River Rail-and-Road Bridge has officially entered full swing.

Drilling of the first pile of the main tower of the bridge begins. The bridge is designed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group under China Railway and constructed by the China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Bureau.
The Yichang Yangtze River Rail-and-Road Bridge is a key component of the Yichang-Fuling High-Speed Railway. It is also a shared river-crossing passage for both the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway and Hohhot-Nanning High-Speed Railway.
The main bridge spans 2,781.9 meters, with its tallest tower rising 246.5 meters. It features an 800-meter cable-stayed section, housing four railway tracks on the upper deck, a six-lane road and reserved space for urban rail transit on the lower deck.
Once the Yichang-Fuling High-Speed Railway is completed, travel time between Yichang and Chongqing will be reduced from the current 4.5 hours to just 2 hours. The trip from Wuhan to Chongqing is expected to be shortened from 5–7 hours to around 3 hours.
