China's CR450, the world's fastest bullet train, has set a global speed record by reaching 450 kilometers per hour in tests and confirmed an operational speed of 400 kilometers per hour.

The new-generation Fuxing EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) train achieved the record during trial operations at Yichang North Railway Station.

Trial runs began on the Wuhan–Yichang section of the Shanghai–Chongqing–Chengdu High-Speed Railway. These trials will be followed by rigorous type testing, providing crucial data to validate and improve the train's design performance.

After the CR450 prototype debuted in Beijing on December 29, 2024, the newly constructed Wuhan–Yichang section of the Shanghai–Chongqing–Chengdu High-Speed Railway was chosen as the test site, highlighting the strategic significance of Hubei Province and Yichang in China’s national high-speed rail network.

Since May 15, this railway section has undergone joint commissioning and testing, providing optimal track conditions. Testing on this new line minimizes interference with regular high-speed train operations, ensuring stable data support for adjustments to the CR450 and establishing a solid foundation for its future commercial operation.
