A Yichang seed company has signed its first direct export deal for corn seeds with a client in Angola.

Hubei Kangnong Seeds Co., Ltd. signed a deal to export 80,000 kilograms of corn seeds on June 12 during the Fourth China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Changsha. The company, which has specialized in corn breeding for 20 years, is the first Hubei seed firm listed on the Beijing Stock Exchange.
"The contract marks the first export order initiated by ourselves," said Peng Yukang, director of the International Business Department at Kangnong Seeds. “Previously, our exports to Africa were done through third-party traders.” He noted the company's plans to expand into Ghana, Nigeria, and other African markets with Hubei's high-quality corn.
Hubei's trade with Africa increased nearly 11 percent from January to April compared to last year. During the expo, Hubei and African companies signed eight projects worth US$1.07 billion across various sectors, including agriculture, mining, and manufacturing.
