Visa-Free Policy Boosts Passenger Traffic to Yichang

In the first half of 2025, Yichang Sanxia International Airport handled 559 flights and over 66,800 passengers, up 62.5 percent and 25.6 percent year-on-year. Foreign arrivals surpassed 21,000, a 56.9 percent rise, with over 12,000 travelers taking advantage of visa-free entry, up 94.1 percent.

Visa-free entries for foreign travelers at Yichang Sanxia International Airport rose by 94.1 percent in the first half of the year.
This year, China expanded its visa-free entry policy to include Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain, raising the total to 47 countries.
The growth in visa-free travel is strengthening Yichang Sanxia International Airport’s role as a key international gateway and boosting the city’s global connectivity.
