In the first half of 2025 Yichang exported 64,000 tons of fresh citrus fruits to over 20 countries. This marks a 6.7% year-on-year increase, with local products reaching markets like Russia, Canada, and India via key ports such as Khorgos and Manzhouli.

At the Yiling District workshop of Yichang Yanghong, workers are busy sorting and boxing summer oranges destined for Central Asia. "Nearly 3,000 tons were exported this summer, with prices up significantly," said General Manager Zhang Yanghong, crediting the growth to improved fruit quality.

This enhanced quality is the result of strategic initiatives. Local areas have built standardized cultivation bases and adopted green techniques, including late harvesting and green manure planting. Full-process quality control ensures a consistent, year-round fresh fruit supply. Varieties like Lunwan navel oranges and summer oranges are tailored to meet diverse international demands, from Russia's need for long-term storage to Southeast Asia's preference for early-ripening fruit.

Yichang citrus now reaches both established markets like Russia and emerging ones such as India and North Korea. “Buyers are coming to us,” said a municipal citrus institute official, noting increased global recognition of the region’s fruit quality.

To further bolster exports, Yichang has established a one-stop service system covering picking, sorting, and customs logistics. Special incentives for sales and export expansion help local enterprises to grow their global partnerships.

As one of China’s leading citrus producers, Yichang’s strong supply chain, stable quality, and responsive export services are cementing its role as a reliable global citrus partner.
