Transportation investment soars by 31% in first half

In the first half of 2025, Yichang's transportation sector completed 24.1 billion yuan (US$3.36 billion) in fixed asset investment, up 31 percent year-on-year and reaching 60 percent of the annual target.
Road transport turnover rose 13 percent to 71.6 billion ton-kilometers, while waterway transport turnover increased 16 percent to 402 billion ton-kilometers.
Over the same period, the city built 46 km of first-class highways (76 percent of the annual target), 95 km of second-class highways (63 percent), and constructed or renovated 512 km of rural roads (51 percent).
