January to July foreign trade grows nearly 27%

Yichang’s foreign trade totaled 32.44 billion yuan (US$4.45 billion) in the first seven months of the year, a year-on-year increase of 26.9 percent.
Exports rose 32.7 percent to 25.98 billion yuan, while imports grew 8 percent to 6.46 billion yuan. General trade expanded 44.2 percent to 29.71 billion yuan, accounting for 91.6 percent of the total. Processing trade amounted to 980 million yuan, and bonded logistics trade stood at 1.68 billion yuan.
The top two trading partners were ASEAN (with a trading value of 8.26 billion yuan, up 49.2 percent) and Brazil (3.38 billion yuan, up 95.7 percent). Trade with Belt and Road Initiative member countries rose 43.7 percent to 21.57 billion yuan, while trade with Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) countries rose by 31.7 percent to 11.81 billion yuan.
The city’s top exports were electromechanical products (5.96 billion yuan, up 53.8 percent), labor-intensive goods (3.73 billion yuan, up 41.5 percent) and agricultural products (2.38 billion yuan, up 17.6 percent). Imports were led by agricultural products (1.33 billion yuan), basic organic chemicals (860 million yuan) and electromechanical products (700 million yuan).
