Sinopec opened its largest supercharging station for heavy-duty trucks in Hubei Province on November 18.

Located in Chayuansi Village along S225 Highway, the Meiziyuan supercharging station sits on a freight corridor linking Yidu and Songzi. The station meets the high charging demand from the many heavy trucks transporting construction materials through the area each day.

The 3,560-square-meter facility, roughly half the size of a standard soccer field, is equipped with 14 charging piles and 28 charging guns. The station can serve 28 heavy-duty semi-trailer trucks simultaneously, with a maximum daily capacity of 200 vehicles. It is the largest station owned by Sinopec Hubei Oil Products Company in terms of both the number of charging piles and total charging power.

The station delivers a maximum output of nearly 5 megawatts, with each individual pile capable of reaching 800 kilowatts. For example, a heavy-duty truck with a 423-kilowatt-hour battery that usually needs about four hours to fully charge at a standard station can now be fully charged in about one hour at this ultra-fast facility.

"We used to spend a lot of time searching for charging stations and then waiting in line. Now, with this station, it's much more convenient," said Pan Feng, a truck driver.

Sinopec Hubei Oil Products Company has set up 27 charging stations for heavy-duty trucks in seven cities, including Wuhan, Yichang, and Jingzhou. The monthly charging volume at these stations has now exceeded 1.3 million kilowatt hours.
