Holiday tourism surges during Qingming Festival

During the three-day Qingming Festival holiday, Yichang’s cultural and tourism market saw a notable surge in visitors as the city’s major scenic spots drew large crowds. Three Gorges-related tourism stood out as a key highlight.

This year's Qingming Festival fell on Sunday, with the holiday running from Saturday to Monday.

Yichang ranked first among cities in Hubei Province in per-tourist spending growth, highlighting its strong consumer activity and growing appeal as a travel destination, according to travel platform Qunar.

The "Two Dams and One Gorge" cruise, covering Gezhouba Dam, the Three Gorges Dam, and Xiling Gorge, has become a popular attraction. During the holiday, it recorded 37,500 trips, up nearly 38 percent year on year. Ancient style boarding ceremonies, character parades, and other themed activities offered cruise passengers a journey blending past and present.
 
The Tribe of the Three Gorges scenic area draws visitors with its ethnic group culture.

Located in Xiling Gorge between the Three Gorges Dam and Gezhouba Dam, the Tribe of the Three Gorges scenic area welcomed 62,000 visitors during the holiday, a 15 percent increase year on year.

Meanwhile, the Qing River Gallery Scenic Area hosted a Flower Festival with immersive cultural experiences. Tourists joined in Tujia folk songs and the traditional hand-waving dance, as nearly 21,000 people visited the area during the holidays.
