Zigui County opened the province's first standardized post-harvest fruit and vegetable processing line on April 8. The facility is operated by Changjiang Bian’er Agricultural Development.

The line processes 25 tons of oranges per hour. Scanners check sugar content, moisture, defects, and size. The system classifies 99 percent of the fruit as premium grade.
Zheng Yuqin, general manager of the company, said sales of Yichang's Lunwan oranges picked up around the Qingming Festival. Since April 2, the plant has processed 75,000 to 90,000 kilograms daily, with most shipments going to Hunan, Henan, and Guangdong.
Yichang has 167,900 mu (11,193 hectares) of Lunwan orange trees, with Zigui County accounting for 123,800 mu, or 74 percent. The rest are grown in Xingshan, Changyang, Yiling, and other areas. This year’s total output is expected to exceed 300,000 tons.
