Phase I of the Yichang Sanxia Aviation Industrial Park broke ground in Xiaoting District, Yichang City on April 10.

With an investment of approximately 6 billion yuan (US$878 million), Guangdong Xuehang Group Co., Ltd. is developing the project in two phases.

As one of South China's earliest and largest air freight forwarding companies, Xuehang Group has extensive experience and strong capabilities in aviation logistics.

Phase I will construct an air cargo center featuring a 26,000-square-meter domestic and international cargo terminal and a 45,000-square-meter comprehensive warehouse.

Supporting facilities, including cargo yards, service car lanes, security checks and border control systems, will also be built to ensure smooth operations.

Phase II will establish an aviation training base, assembly lines for aviation spare parts, aircraft disassembly and remanufacturing production lines, and an aviation material trading center.

The goal is to create a complete aviation industrial ecosystem that integrates cargo transportation, training, manufacturing and trading.

Once fully operational, the project is expected to achieve an annual throughput of 100,000 tons, boosting Yichang City's air logistics industry and enhancing its status as a hub. It will also facilitate the development of a "rail-water-road-aviation" multimodal transport system.

Sanxia International Airport will develop in coordination with Ezhou Huahu Airport.

By collaborating with SF Express, Yichang will focus on hybrid passenger aircraft belly cargo services and full cargo aircraft routes, while Ezhou will concentrate on pure cargo transportation.

"We will not only do business in Yichang but also develop the city into a regional cargo distribution center, connecting specific international goods with domestic transportation," said Liu Lingling, director of the Airport Economic Development Service Center of Xiaoting District.

Upon completion, air-to-land transfers will occur within one stop in the park, significantly reducing transfer times, cutting logistics costs, and providing greater convenience and benefits to businesses.
