City airport launches Yichang-Cheongju direct flight

The Yichang–Cheongju direct passenger route launched on April 27, as flight RF8153, operated by South Korea's Aero-K Airlines, landed at Sanxia International Airport at 4:04 pm.

First flight on the Yichang–Cheongju route lands.
The new route is operated with an Airbus A320 every Monday and Friday.
Flight RF8153 leaves Cheongju at 2 pm and arrives in Yichang at 4 pm. Flight RF8163 departs Yichang at 5 pm and arrives in Cheongju at 9:05 pm. (All times are local.)
The service will run through May 29 and is planned to resume in October and November.
Passengers on the first flight are expected to begin a five-day tour of local attractions, including the Three Gorges Waterfall Scenic Area and the Tribe of the Three Gorges Scenic Area.

To ensure a smooth launch, the airport worked with Yichang Customs and other units to streamline route application and approval procedures, and upgraded inspection equipment to speed up passenger clearance.
Since the beginning of 2026, Sanxia International Airport has continued to expand its international network, now covering Vladivostok, Vientiane, Hanoi, Incheon, Kuching, Bangkok, and other international cities, setting a new record for the number of overseas routes.
So far this year, the airport has handled 261 international flights and 37,000 passengers, including 18,000 foreign travelers.
