Eight expressways and three Yangtze River bridges are under construction in Yichang, among which the Yidu-Laifeng Expressway and the Dangyang-Zhijiang-Songzi Expressway are almost complete.

By the end of March, expressway construction in Yichang had attracted 6.17 billion yuan in investment, up 66.3 percent year on year. This accounted for 19.2 percent of Hubei's total expressway investment in the quarter, the highest in the province.

Water transport projects are also progressing smoothly, including a refined oil transshipment terminal at the Three Gorges hub and a bulk cargo terminal in Changyang. Four specialized waste transport wharves for the massive Three Gorges New Waterway project have begun construction. The project will cost 76.6 billion yuan and includes a 6,680-meter ship lock near the Three Gorges Dam.

In the first quarter, Yichang secured 1.09 billion yuan in government subsidies to support its transport infrastructure projects.
