Yichang Railway prepares for 800,000 passengers over May Day holiday

China Railway Wuhan Group's Yichang Railway Department expects to handle more than 800,000 passengers during the 2026 May Day holiday, which runs from April 29 to May 6.

Arrivals are expected to peak at 135,000 on May 1. Return trips will reach a holiday high of 140,000 on May 5. Top destinations include Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Hubei cities such as Wuhan, Enshi, and Xiangyang.
Up to 97 extra trains will run on peak days. Additional services will cover Hankou, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai. The schedule also includes loop-line and nighttime trains.
The holiday overlaps with Hubei City Football League matches. The city will add trains and extend bus connections to ensure fans can travel smoothly.
