Yichang-based Hubei Kangnong Seeds Co., Ltd. held a launch ceremony on May 5 in Nay Pyi Taw, marking its entry into the Southeast Asian market. The event was held as part of the Myanmar-China Agricultural Collaborative Development Conference in Myanmar’s capital.

Moving forward, China and Myanmar will jointly establish demonstration bases for high-quality maize varieties, train local agricultural technicians, localize the breeding and promotion of crop varieties, and deepen cooperation across the entire agricultural value chain.

Founded in 2007, Kangnong specializes in seeds for corn, konjac, and Chinese herbal medicine. The company has developed high quality, high yield disease-resistant seeds for farmers contending with the poor climate and soil conditions of southwest China.
To date, the company has developed and launched more than 100 new corn varieties.
In January 2024, Kangnong Seeds was listed on the Beijing Stock Exchange, becoming the first publicly traded seed company in Hubei Province.
Peng Xubing, general manager of Kangnong Seeds, said that the company will continue to promote the application of its premium crop varieties and advanced agricultural technologies in more countries.
