New tourism offerings unveiled for Three Gorges Dam area

The leading tourism development company in the Three Gorges Dam area recently launched seven new offerings as the first phase outcome of its 2026 innovation roadmap.

The new offerings from Yangtze Three Gorges Tourism Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation, span a wide range of formats. These include creative souvenir products inspired by the Three Gorges Project, integrated hotel and travel packages, culinary and entertainment events, immersive performances, eco-education travel programs, and smart transportation solutions.

Since 2024, the company has developed over 130 creative products around the themes of the Three Gorges Project, hydropower technology, and ecological conservation. The latest series takes a more accessible and refined approach, transforming the mega-project into portable, shareable cultural symbols that bring the story of the Three Gorges closer to the public and into everyday life.

A standout among the new offerings is the eco-education program Where Does the Garbage Go?, designed for primary and secondary school students nationwide. The program partners with Yichang’s waste-to-energy plant and Dongshan Water Purification Plant, turning advanced waste treatment and recycling processes into hands-on learning experiences.

Other new launches include the immersive light-and-shadow show Dream of the Three Gorges, and smart shuttle services for streamlined travel. In addition, the Three Gorges Lobster and Beer Festival enriches the nighttime economy for tourists, workers of the Dam, and local residents.

According to the company, the new offerings are intended to strengthen the site’s role as a national patriotism education base and boost regional tourism. Ultimately, the goal is to position the Three Gorges Dam area as a world-class industrial tourism destination under the China Three Gorges brand.
