The Yichang–Xingshan High Speed Railway links the Wuhan-Yichang section of the Shanghai–Chongqing–Chengdu High Speed Railway with the Zhengzhou–Chongqing High Speed Railway. The line is about 109 km long and designed for speeds of 350 km/h.

Once operational, travel times will be significantly reduced: the journey between Xingshan and Yichang will drop from 2 hours to just 20 minutes, Yichang to Chongqing from over 4 hours to under 3, and Chengdu to Yichang from 6.5 hours to about 4.

This stage of testing is a crucial step in the completion review of new railway projects. It serves as a comprehensive inspection of construction quality and equipment installation, covering track works, communications, signaling, power and traction systems, as well as station buildings.

Upon completion of equipment system testing, the line will move on to final testing, the last step in determining whether the project is ready for its scheduled opening.
