The event featured biodiversity exhibits, insect specimen observations, intangible cultural heritage workshops, and science lectures by experts, all designed to raise public awareness of biodiversity conservation.

Yichang has taken the lead in conducting biodiversity surveys. The work has helped clarify local biodiversity, identifying five new species, including Leptobotia paucipinna, Deconica ovispora, and Tylototriton wufengensis, while also documenting rare and endangered species such as the Chinese sturgeon, the Yangtze finless porpoise, and the dove tree.
