Joint commissioning and testing on the Yichang–Xingshan High-Speed Railway began on June 29, marking the final acceptance phase before the line opens.

Crews are now testing track conditions, signaling systems, and overall operational stability. The tests will verify that the line is ready for passenger service.

The 108.48-kilometer line connects the Shanghai–Chongqing–Chengdu and Zhengzhou–Chongqing high-speed railways, serving as a key link in the national rail network. Trains will operate at speeds of up to 350 km/h. Bridges and tunnels account for 95.13 percent of the route.

Once the line opens, travel from Xingshan to Yichang will take just 20 minutes, while the trip from Yichang to Chongqing will take less than three hours.

The line is a key section of the Yangtze River high-speed rail corridor, creating a faster westbound route for Hubei. It will also give Yichang a cross-shaped high-speed rail network and strengthen the city’s role as a multi-directional transportation hub, supporting local economic growth.
