AESC rolls out 790Ah storage cells in Yichang

The plant took just over nine months to complete, from contract signing to commissioning. AESC signed the project on October 9, 2025, and began production on July 15, 2026. It covers about 503 mu (33.5 hectares).
The site is AESC's core production hub for energy storage batteries. It is also the world's first full integrated industrial base built for a planned capacity of 100 GWh scale.
Phase I is designed to produce 40 GWh annually. The production process covers electrode manufacturing, cell production, and battery pack assembly.
The factory operates fully automated production lines powered by AI-driven manufacturing. Advanced production processes ensure cell consistency and safety that meet global standards.
The 790Ah cell is the largest wound prismatic energy storage cell currently on the market. Each cell delivers more than 2.5 kWh of rated energy, with a volumetric energy density exceeding 440 Wh/L.
The cell is designed to last more than 12,000 cycles. Its DC energy conversion efficiency reaches at least 96.0 percent. Under daily charge-discharge conditions, it has a calendar life of at least 30 years.
The product has passed rigorous safety tests, including nail penetration, overcharge, thermal runaway, and drop tests. It has obtained domestic and international certifications and meets market access requirements in more than 20 countries and regions.
As a core component of Envision's next-generation AI power energy storage systems, the 790Ah cell reduces both upfront investment costs and the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) across a project's full life.
When paired with its matching 12.5 MWh AI storage system, the internal rate of return (IRR) for energy storage projects increases by 4 to 8 percent over their operating life.

Mass production of the 790Ah cell in Yichang marks another milestone in AESC's global expansion plan. The company has already mass-produced 300Ah and 500Ah large-format cells, and continues to refine its high-capacity storage technology.
Zhao Weijun, president of AESC China, said the launch of the 790Ah cell opens a new growth phase. The company will speed up capacity expansion and order fulfillment while continuing to drive technological innovation and industry development.
