61,500 more people find jobs in H1

In the first half of this year, 61,500 more people found jobs in Yichang, according to the local human resources authority.
The city has introduced a range of employment support policies, allocating more than 557 million yuan (US$81.67 million) in funding and 2.46 billion yuan in guaranteed startup loans. About 24,300 people received subsidized vocational training, and 6,501 skilled talents were recruited to work in Yichang.
Social security coverage also expanded, with 22,000 people joining the basic old-age insurance program, up 18.37 percent year on year.

Based on the city’s industrial development and demand in the service sector, Yichang plans to create more job opportunities in areas including performing arts, sports, health care, and artificial intelligence sectors.
The city also plans to shift entrepreneurship services from a focus on providing workspace to capacity-building, guiding start-up service platforms toward differentiated and specialized development.
Yichang will also expand social insurance coverage, tighten fund supervision, expand cross-provincial medical insurance settlement, and better protect workers’ rights.
