The first batch of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) products from Yihua is shipped to South Asia from Baiyang Port in Yichang.
Known as a high-value "universal" solvent, DMSO is used in industries including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, metallurgy, semiconductors, and carbon fiber manufacturing.
The project uses a process that converts hydrogen sulfide, a by-product of coal chemical production, into high-value DMSO. The process increases the utilization of coal chemical by-products while supporting cleaner production and the development of higher-value chemical products.
Yihua's DMSO plant, with an annual production capacity of 10,000 tons, began operating in February. During initial production, the company addressed technical challenges and refined the process to meet international standards, paving the way for exports.
