Yichang records nearly 1.89 million passenger trips over National Day holiday

Yichang recorded 1,889,800 passenger trips across all modes of transport during this year's National Day holiday. That is up 8.3 percent from a year earlier.

Rail passenger departures totaled 349,600, up 20.8 percent year on year. Arrivals reached 313,200, an increase of 11.6 percent. Yichang East Railway Station recorded 294,000 departures and 265,100 arrivals. Yichang North Railway Station handled 55,600 departures and 48,100 arrivals.

Road passenger departures across the city reached 950,100, up 13.1 percent year on year. The city's 38 expressway toll stations recorded a combined 1,545,100 vehicle passages. A riverside sightseeing bus service launched in urban Yichang during the holiday operated 246 trips and carried 5,423 passengers.

Yichang Sanxia International Airport handled 835 aircraft takeoffs and landings and 100,000 passenger trips during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday period. Of these, 74,000 trips were recorded from October 1 to 7. During the holiday period, the airport served 41 domestic and international routes connecting 50 destinations. Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou were among the most popular destinations. The average passenger load factor exceeded 85 percent.

The airport recorded 3,900 international passenger arrivals and departures and 32 international flight movements. These figures were up 58.3 percent and 77.8 percent year on year, respectively. Foreign nationals accounted for 68.8 percent of international passengers. The airport increased flight frequencies on popular routes and resumed direct flights to Cheongju, South Korea, on October 2.
