Overseas Chinese-language media visit Yichang

Representatives of around 20 overseas Chinese-language media outlets visited Yichang from October 22 to 26 to learn about the city’s developments in Yangtze River ecological protection, sci-tech innovation, port-industry-city integration and cultural-tourism integration.
Home to the Three Gorges Project and Gezhouba Dam, Yichang is embracing new development opportunities brought by the construction of the new water transport channel for the Yangtze River, the members from 16 foreign countries and regions were told.
At the Yidu Green Intelligent Ship Industrial Park, green and intelligent ships are taking shape from blueprints. Dong Bacui, editor-in-chief of United Daily News of the Philippines, said Yichang’s shipbuilding sector is shifting toward high-end, smart and green development, serving as a vivid example of port-industry-city integration.

Zhang Weijia, publisher of Indonesia’s Lujian Huanyu, was deeply impressed by Yichang’s green computing power industry. She noted that from computing infrastructure to intelligent equipment research and development, Yichang is translating scientific and technological advances into industrial momentum.

At the Three Gorges Finless Porpoise Bay, Chen Yingmin, deputy editor-in-chief of Canada’s Souluo Media, said: “From chemical plants crowding the river to finless porpoises swimming freely, Yichang has written a vivid ecological success story.” He said he would share Yichang’s ecological governance experience with overseas readers.
The representatives said Yichang blends natural beauty with dynamic industries and would serve as a bridge to tell stories of Yichang to the world.
