The 11th China Fruit Industry Brand Conference opened in Zigui, a county-level city in Yichang, on October 29. The event, launched in 2015, is being held in a county-level city for the first time.

More than 600 guests attended the opening. They included officials from the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives and the China Fruit Marketing Association, as well as fruit industry experts, enterprise representatives, and buyers from across the country.

Zigui is China's first "Hometown of Navel Oranges." The city currently has 400,000 mu (26,600 hectares) of citrus orchards. Annual output reaches 1 million tons. Combined output value is nearly 25 billion yuan (US$3.69 billion). Its fresh fruit and processed products go to over 140 countries and regions.

Li Benjian, deputy director of the Yichang Supply and Marketing Cooperative, said the cooperative system focuses on services and distribution. Drones transport fruit more than 10 times faster than manual labor. Through offline and online channels, Zigui's navel oranges generate 6 billion yuan (US$885.4 million) in annual online sales. This boosts local farmers' incomes.

During the conference, representatives from nine major fruit-producing regions and nine distribution enterprises launched an initiative to promote fruit consumption. Eight pairs of enterprises signed cooperation agreements to secure benefits for growers. The conference also featured an exhibition with 120 booths. It released three authoritative industry reports, including the 2026 Fruit Industry Brand Development Analysis Report.

The event showcased Zigui's industrial strength. It provided a platform for national trade connections. It also promoted local agricultural products at home and abroad.
