The Yangtze River Basin has long been a cradle of Chinese poetry, nurturing generations of literary brilliance. Along its banks, Yichang holds a special place in history as the homeland of Wang Zhaojun, whose marriage to Xiongnu Chanyu beyond the Great Wall became a lasting symbol of peace and cross-cultural understanding.

In this episode of the video series, "Ode to the Yangtze River: Poetic Journey Through Yichang," the focus turns to Wang Zhaojun, the legendary Han Dynasty beauty and peace envoy born in today's Xingshan County, Yichang City.

Part 2 tells the story of how she promoted friendship between two ethnic groups through her marriage and explores the legacy of her spirit that has been passed down through the generations.

You can also see a Xingshan Folk Song in the video. In 2006, the art form was included in the first batch of China's National Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Many of the songs tell the story of Wang Zhaojun.
