Becoming Chinese — Sawon from Bangladesh celebrates Spring Festival with his Chinese Boss
Md Sahadat Hossen Sawon, 27, is from Bangladesh. He studied in Yichang and now works at Yichang Jamo Chemical, where he manages business with clients in Europe, the United States, and Southeast Asia. He is the company’s first foreign hire and is known for his strong performance and fluency in Chinese, English, and Bengali.
Sawon entered China Three Gorges University in 2019 to study chemical materials. Learning Chinese was initially a major challenge, but through perseverance he developed a deep appreciation for both the language and the culture.
During his seven years in China, Sawon has not returned to Bangladesh, yet he has never felt alone. His boss, Chen Jing, treats him like a family member and has twice invited him to spend the Spring Festival at his hometown in Xingshan, Yichang.
Sawon hopes to build his future in China. “China offers tremendous opportunities,” he said, "I want to make the most of my time here and put down roots."
