First pier completed on Three Gorges Dam oil pipeline system

The first pier of a refined oil pipeline system over the Three Gorges Dam has been completed. With an annual transport capacity of 5.8 million tons and an investment of 6.7 billion yuan (US$982 million), the project includes docks and oil depots designed to ease transportation pressure through the dam's lock.
