World’s first large all-electric bulk carrier passes tests

The Gezhouba, the world’s first 10,000-ton all-electric bulk carrier, completed a full series of functional tests, including remotely controlled navigation, on June 30. The 129.98-meter ship can carry up to 13,740 tons, swap batteries in 10 minutes, and travel up to 500 km on a single charge. It is expected to save 617.5 tons of fuel and reduce CO₂ emissions by 2,052 tons each year, setting a new benchmark for green shipping on the Yangtze.
