Hubei Three Gorges Technical University (HTGTU) is a public, full-time undergraduate-level vocational institution approved by the People's Government of Hubei Province and registered with the Ministry of Education. It is recognized as a National High-Quality Higher Vocational University and as a designated institution for a high-level program group under the national Double High-Level Plan.

Located in Yichang, Hubei Province, a key location in the development of the Yangtze River conservation framework, HTGTU covers 1,718.48 mu (approximately 114.6 hectares) and has a total floor area of about 555,900 square meters. It has two national production-oriented practical training bases, one Chinese training base for the WorldSkills Competition, and one industry-education integration demonstration base under the National Education Strengthening Project. HTGTU enrolls 16,000 students and employs 1,282 faculty members, including 967 full-time teachers.

HTGTU aligns closely with national strategies, including the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Rise of Central China. It has established a comprehensive ideological and political education framework centered on Yangtze River conservation. In support of Hubei's modern industrial system, HTGTU offers 53 programs organized into a “1+3+5” program group structure with a focus on developing a national high-level Applied Chemical Technology program group serving the trillion-yuan modern chemical and energy industries.

HTGTU has led the development of two national teaching resource repositories, established five national-level courses and 20 provincial-level courses, and compiled 14 national-planned textbooks for vocational education. It has received one First Prize and one Second Prize in the National Teaching Achievement Awards.

HTGTU advances industry-education integration by leading the development of a national model vocational education group and a provincial municipal industry-education consortium and by establishing 14 industry colleges. It has developed a talent-development model based on “dual entities, eight joint mechanisms, and four integrated dimensions,” creating a strong base of skilled craftspeople to support green and low-carbon industries. Each year, HTGTU provides local industries with large numbers of highly skilled professionals, maintains a graduate employment rate above 96%, and has earned more than 500 awards in provincial-level and higher competitions.

HTGTU has six research platforms at the provincial level and above and has received more than 300 awards for research achievements. With key support from the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, it has established a Model Workers and Craftspeople College and provides a range of training programs.  Its annual number of non-degree training participants is 3.26 times its degree-student enrollment. HTGTU has been recognized as a university supporting the Industrial Workers' Study and Dream Fulfillment Initiative. It has also co-established Jingchu Workshops in Egypt and Pakistan with leading enterprises.

Under the new landscape of China’s opening-up and vocational education, the university will uphold its institutional mission of “rooted in the Three Gorges, serving Hubei, integrating into Central China, and contributing to the strategic pivot.” It will build on its strengths in modern chemicals and new materials, life science, new energy, high-end equipment, and related fields while actively participating in Belt and Road vocational education cooperation. The university is committed to becoming a high-level vocational and technical university that is first-class in Hubei, nationally recognized, and internationally influential. It will contribute to Belt and Road cooperation, promote greater connectivity in vocational education between China and other countries, and support coordinated global industrial development.
