Yichang has established two key southern maritime routes: the "Rail-Rail-Sea" (Yichang-Huaihua-Qinzhou) and the "River-Rail-Sea" (Yichang-Chongqing-Qinzhou). These routes enhance sea transportation for foreign trade enterprises in Yichang and across Hubei Province, strengthening economic ties with Belt and Road countries, particularly ASEAN.

Qinzhou Port in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region serves as a vital maritime gateway, facilitating trade between inland areas and international markets, especially with ASEAN countries.

In 2024, Yichang's trade with ASEAN reached 11.8 billion yuan (US$1.64 billion), a 47.4 percent increase from the previous year.
