Yichang adds nearly 5,000 public parking spaces

The Dongchen Yayuan Parking Lot in Wujia District, near Sanxia Avenue, covers about 3,000 square meters and provides 80 spaces, including 29 for new energy vehicles, with 10 charging stations and two self-service car wash machines.
“There are many residential communities nearby but charging facilities for new energy vehicles are limited. With this lot now open, not only are there more parking spaces, but vehicles can also be charged conveniently nearby,” said local resident Mr. Li.
So far, Yichang has built 28 new public parking facilities, including 3,303 spaces in the downtown area and 1,385 in counties and districts. The traffic authority also added 343 night-time parking areas along key roads.
As of June 2025, there are 360,000 private cars and 399,000 parking spaces in the downtown Yichang area, achieving a vehicle-to-parking ratio of 1:1.11.
