Fifty new energy heavy trucks have recently joined phosphate ore transport operations for Hubei Yihua Group, following a strategic cooperation agreement signed on August 15 between Yichang-based chemical giant, Hubei Communications Investment Group Co., Ltd., and Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. The three parties will jointly build a green ore transportation network for the city’s mines.

The Dongfeng new energy heavy trucks were co-designed by Hubei Communications Investment Group, which oversees transportation infrastructure in Hubei, and Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle. Each truck can be fully charged in two hours, operate continuously for eight hours when fully loaded with phosphate ore, and reduce carbon emissions by about 60 tons per year. Yihua Group has also built a supporting charging network to serve these trucks.
The three parties will collaborate to replace traditional fuel trucks on a large scale for phosphate ore transportation. Yihua Group will provide the demand for green mining transportation services, Hubei Communications Investment will provide the operation and energy supply solutions, while Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle will manufacture the advanced new energy equipment.
Starting with the first batch of trucks, Yichang aims to build China’s first model section of a "zero-carbon mine transportation corridor.”
