The heroic story of the 1938 Great Yichang Evacuation was retold by China’s Central TV Station as the sixth episode of its documentary series Victory on the evening of August 28. Titled The Legend Through the Flames of War, the episode highlighted this dramatic chapter of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
The Legend Through the Flames of War, the sixth episode in the documentary series Victory, was aired on China Central TV Station’s Channel 1 on the evening of August 28.

In 1938, Chinese industrialist and owner of the Minsheng Company Lu Zuofu mobilized his company fleet to ship troops, civilians, and vital supplies over 40 consecutive days between Yichang and Chongqing, preserving crucial resources in China’s war against the Japanese invasion.

To faithfully and vividly recreate this chapter of history, the Yichang Three Gorges Media Center assisted the CCTV crew with filming in Yichang for two weeks in mid-May. The team worked in intense summer heat to capture historical sites and gather archives, photographs, and artifacts.
