The Yichang-Zhangjiajie section of the G59 Expressway opens on September 29, establishing a new connection between Hubei and Hunan provinces and reducing travel time between the two cities to 2.5 hours.
The new 18.8-kilometer, four-lane expressway connects Wenzhuwan in Yidu, Yichang, to Luhong Mountain at the Hubei-Hunan border. Guided by an intelligent digital control system, it is a smart, eco-friendly route through the challenging terrain of the Wuling Mountains.
The Yichang-Zhangjiajie border link will connect major tourism sites, including the Three Gorges National Geopark, Houhe National Nature Reserve, and Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, enhancing interprovincial ties and boosting the local economy.
