During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, both passenger and cargo transport surged on the Yangtze River in Yichang, according to local maritime authorities. Passenger and ferry trips totaled 269,700, marking a substantial 66 percent increase over last year's National Day holiday, with more than 160,000 tourist trips recorded.

To handle the spike in traffic, the Yichang Maritime Safety Administration implemented comprehensive safety measures, including pre-holiday vessel inspections, assigning inspectors to each vessel, real-time monitoring, 24-hour duty shifts, and safety education, ensuring smooth and secure operations.

The holiday also overlapped with the peak season for autumn planting along the river. The Administration launched a specialized support program for vital materials like refined oil and raw materials, implementing tailored measures for each cargo type. This initiative ensured the efficient and safe passage of 280 vessels carrying 1.025 million tons of goods, an increase of over 100,000 tons compared to the same period last year.
