A major high-end precision copper rod project began operations on October 28 at the Wufeng Minzu Industrial Park.
A commissioning ceremony is held for the high-precision copper rod project.

Operated by Hubei Qirui New Materials Co., Ltd., the first phase of the project will produce 200,000 tons of T1, T2, and T3 grade copper rods annually. Its launch is a significant step for Wufeng in developing its non-ferrous metal materials industry and is set to drive rapid growth in the local industrial economy.

The project aims to accelerate the park’s goal of achieving an accumulated output value of 10 billion yuan and will help Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County exceed an annual industrial output value of 10 billion yuan by 2026.

In May, Qirui New Materials and the Wufeng government signed an agreement to build a non-ferrous metals park, investing a total of 3 billion yuan. The park will feature five projects, including optoelectronic information materials and fully automated digital cables, and will adopt a circular economy model.

Once fully operational, the copper rod project is projected to generate an annual output value exceeding 5 billion yuan. Its products will meet 30 percent of Qifan Cable's raw material needs and approximately 50 percent of the requirements for other wire and cable companies in Yichang, playing a crucial role in the regional industrial and supply chains.
