Sanxia International Airport recorded historic highs in both passenger traffic and cargo volume in 2025, reinforcing its role as a key aviation hub in Central China. The airport handled 3.4 million passengers, including 123,000 international inbound and outbound travelers, and logged 28,700 aircraft movements over the year.

Passenger throughput at Sanxia International Airport exceeded 3.4 million in 2025.

Throughout the year, the airport added 16 new passenger routes, bringing the total to 61 passenger routes and one dedicated cargo route, operated by 18 different airlines.

By securing high-demand time slots at major aviation hubs including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Chengdu, the airport achieved all-day connectivity with China’s core economic centers.

This expanded network significantly improved operational efficiency, with passenger load factors exceeding 90 percent during peak travel periods such as the Spring Festival and the summer season.

Meanwhile, 2025 marked a milestone year for the airport’s international services. The opening of the Sanxia International Airport Departure Duty-Free Shop made it the first regional airport in Hubei Province to offer duty-free shopping. It also became the province’s first aviation port to implement a departure tax refund policy for overseas travelers.

The launch of the new international cargo terminal further strengthened the airport’s logistics capacity. By leveraging the belly cargo space of passenger flights to regional hubs such as Bangkok and Hong Kong, the airport opened vital new trade corridors. This shift toward higher-value logistics was reflected in exports exceeding US$3 million, including precision machinery, electronic components, and jewelry.
