Three Gorges ship locks and lift set new records

Both the Three Gorges ship locks and the Three Gorges ship lift set new handling records in 2025. Shipping throughput via the ship locks reached 170 million tons, while the ship lift transported 632,000 passengers. Together, these two systems enabled a total shipping throughput of 173 million tons through the Three Gorges Dam last year, an increase of 8.66 percent year on year.
