Yichang Brunp’s output value reached 10.8 billion yuan (US$1.55 billion) in 2025, surging 100 percent year-on-year.
Brunp, a subsidiary of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL), China’s largest automotive lithium-ion battery maker, began building the CATL-BRUNP Integrated New Energy Industry Project in Yichang in 2021.

Yichang Brunp comprises three core projects: Brunp Cycling, Brunp Yihua, and Brunp Times, all of which were completed and began operation in 2025. Brunp Yihua alone contributed 4.4 billion yuan in output value, accounting for nearly half of Yichang Brunp’s total.
“The 300,000-ton-per-annum iron phosphate project of Brunp Yihua was commissioned last June, generating over 2 billion yuan in output value,” said Chen Zhaozhe, Public Relations Manager of Yichang Brunp Recycling Technology Co., Ltd.
The project is now running at full capacity, and its products are supplied to Brunp Times and other downstream clients for the production of battery cathode materials.

The company has invested a cumulative total of more than 1 billion yuan in R&D. It has overcome the technical challenge of phosphorus and iron recovery in LFP battery recycling and raised the compaction density of its fourth-generation LFP cathode materials to above 2.6 g/cm³.
The 300,000-ton-per-annum next-generation LFP project at Brunp Times was commissioned in late 2025.
“This is currently China’s largest single high-end LFP production base. Five of its six production lines are operational, with a capacity utilization rate of 80 percent. Full capacity is targeted for 2026,” said Gao Pengxin, production director of the project.
The project has built a complete industry chain – from phosphate ore to raw materials, precursors, cathode materials, and battery recycling – realizing closed‑loop material utilization from feedstock to waste.
Chen noted that as capacity ramps up, Yichang Brunp is projected to add an additional 10 billion yuan in annual output value, with total output value expected to surpass 40 billion yuan by 2030.
