Hubei Hesheng Textile Co., a smart textile factory backed by billions of yuan in investment, has launched the second phase of its smart factory project, aiming to double production capacity by October.
Hesheng Textile, located in Zhijiang, has been running at full capacity since late 2023. The plant produces over 1,100 tons of yarn each month.
"The phase two project is expected to be completed in October, and capacity is expected to double once it becomes operational," said Chen Jiasheng, the company’s general manager. Chen added that the company plans to expand both its market reach and product range this year.
In 2021, the company invested 1.2 billion yuan (US$166 million) to build the smart manufacturing project. The 15,000-square-meter workshop now features fully automated production lines.

Shen Xiaobo, the company's administration director, said the advanced smart production lines have replaced traditional ones, reducing the number of operators required from more than 400 to about 30.
Shen added that the automated spinning machines operate at 550 meters per minute, 20 to 30 times faster than traditional equipment.
The yarn produced can be as fine as 100-count, thinner than a human hair. The products are mainly used in clothing and home textiles, supplying brands such as Anta and Nike.
