Track‑laying on the Yichang–Xingshan High‑Speed Railway entered Xingshan County on March 9, marking another major step toward the opening of the full line.

With the installation of long steel rails in the Xingshan section of the Changgangling Tunnel, track-laying work on the Yichang-Xingshan High-speed Railway has officially entered Xingshan County.
The 500‑meter rails used in this phase are transported from Yichang East Station to the construction site. Work is progressing efficiently, with track-laying advancing at a pace of 7 kilometers every 12 hours.
The Yichang–Xingshan High‑Speed Railway links the Wuhan-Yichang section of the Shanghai–Chongqing–Chengdu High‑Speed Railway with the Zhengzhou–Chongqing High‑Speed Railway. The line is about 109 km long and designed for speeds of 350 km/h. Major construction has already been completed, and the project is now entering the track-laying stage.
Once operational, travel times will be significantly reduced: the journey between Xingshan and Yichang will drop from 2 hours to just 20 minutes, Yichang to Chongqing from over 4 hours to under 3, and Chengdu to Yichang from 6.5 hours to about 4.
