A total of 1,000 tons of fertilizer raw materials were transferred for export on March 9 at Zigui Port in Yichang. The operation marks this year’s first foreign trade cargo handling at the port's newly reopened multipurpose berths, signaling the resumption of international logistics activities at the facility.

A total of 1,000 tons of fertilizer raw materials are unloaded from a ship in Zigui Port.

The shipment is being transported via a "waterway-highway-waterway" relay model. After unloading at Zigui Port, the materials are transported over the Three Gorges Dam by trucks to the downstream Yidu Port, avoiding long waits for ships to pass through the dam’s locks or lifts. From there, the cargo will be shipped to Zhenjiang Port in Jiangsu Province, where it will be exported to global markets.

The operation establishes a stable and cost-effective waterway channel for exporting agricultural material and equipment from the Three Gorges Reservoir area. It significantly reduces logistics costs for enterprises and ensures the smooth flow of the agricultural supply chain.

In recent years, Zigui County has continuously upgraded its port infrastructure and promoted deeper integration between port operations and the logistics sector. With the multipurpose berths now in regular service, the foreign trade logistics network along the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River is expected to grow even stronger.
